After recent family feud, Kanye West has been a topic of discussion in the last weeks, but this hasn’t stopped him from his pursuit of the perfect footwear lineup. After reviving the Yeezy 500 Utility Black back in 2020, he is now set to release a completely new colorway of the renowned Yeezy 500 model. Moving away from the previous monotone colourways such as the Yeezy 500 Soft Vision or the Yeezy 500 Bone White, this vibrant colourway switches it up completely, with eccentric color contrasts on the upper, combined with a bright orange midsole. Unlike the Yeezy 500 Stone, which replaced the mesh breathing units with neoprene, the Yeezy 500 Enflame returns to this breathable mesh, presumably to prepare customers for spring and summer 2021.
Undoubtedly, this sneaker will receive ambivalent responses. The silhouette itself already has polarized opinions, and this eccentric colourway might accentuate these opinions even further. However, the comfort of the AdiPrene midsole has changed many sneakerhead’s minds, which is magnified by the trend towards futuristic footwear, largely attributable to the recent Yeezy Line-up. While the Yeezy 500 was one of the first Yeezy silhouettes to reflect Kanye’s future-oriented vision, the trend has been incremented by the Yeezy 700v3, often analogized as a spaceship; and the Yeezy 380, the older brother of the standard Yeezy 350 silhouette.
